OT LOTR Lego

Brikwars.

An awesome Lego wargame. It's based on rolling Skill, 1d6+some mods, against UR (user rating). If you just multiply all Skill and URs by three, then converty it into d20s + mods, then there you go: a d20 lego wargame.

Of course, you could just play Brikwars. The creator, Mike Rayhawk, is really a nice guy, we discussed setting up a kinda joke-brikwars d20 page: 3 pages of intro by him, 3 pages of intro by me, 10 pages of SRD, 10 pages of LEGO legal disclaimer, with the above paragraph somewhere in the middle. Haven't gotten around to it yet, though.

Presently, there are 2 good versions to look at: the 2000 rules on the web, and the 2001 rules in .pdf format. The main difference is vehicle construction.

The rules are totally flexable, allowing you to build anything of any TL (tech level). It ranges from TL 0, Grog smash large rock, to TL 7, where Jo Average warps reality to get more time to play DnD, and everything imbetween. Castle is TL 2, Space is Tl 5-6. Technically, TLs 0 and 7 are implayable, as in the former it's just borring, and the latter is just *WAY* to much technology. I'd reccomend TLs 2, for castle, 3, for pirate, and 6, for space.

There is also a page of write-ups of Brikwars battles. Hilariously funny. Read "The Battle of Tank Stream," by some australian guys, first. It's great.

It's written in a very tounge - in - cheek tone, and the 2001 version has quotes from Machiavelle's "The Prince," Sun Tzu's "The Art of War," and varius lines of Easy Eddy's.

Personally, I just love this game, and leapt at this chance to pimp it. I have a few supplements written up, as well as some simplifications and modifications. For those of you who can't put up with all of Brikwars's rules, the site also has a page of links to other Lego wargames. If you like Pirate, Steve Jackson games has a free game with an online rulebook, "Evil Stevie's Pirate Game."

F5, I've been using Legos as miniatures for my d20 SW and D&D games for the past several years. They're perfect. :) You can customize your character as you want, ideal for those without the talent or time to paint. You can build walls, dungeons, castles, etc. etc. and have things visually there for the players to see.

They're great. :)

While ESPG does have it's merrits, and certainly is better if you are going specifically for pirates . . .

BRIKWARS RULES!!!!!

More seriously (though no less pimpingly), I think that most of the ENboarders are looking for medieval games. Brikwars is more suited for that, MKI mass drivers take care of catapaults and balistae, they have rules for bombs and cannons, 2 types of bows and the crossbow, armor, armor for the horses ( ), and buildings and fortification.

My favorite is still space, though. There's nothing like taking out a platoon of 10 troops from a yard away with a MK IV blaster. It can bring a tear to your eye.

Where is Barad-Dur?
After all, it IS the greatest physical structure (above ground) in Middle Earth!

Where is Minas Tirith? Minas Morgul? Caras Galadon? Cirith Ungol?

It is WAY better then official,
particularily the kind of crap they are pushing this days (I swear they have reduced the number of pieces per box of the same size in all of their Legoland lines by at least 30% in the last 10 years)

As a huge fan of both Lego and LOTR I salute you ser as a greatest designer of LEGO stuff I have run across including the ones that work for the company.

You have improved my day considerably with those pictures.
