[OT] Movie: Reign of Fire

I was sort of interested in this film, but then I saw that Matthew McConaughey-hey-hey was the male lead.

I mean, really.

I'll check it out when it hits the 2nd run cinema. :)

I'm definitely there.

What I'm waiting for most is the release of Brotherhood of The Wolf on video. I heard it was great, but my dinky little desert burg didn't feel the need to bring it around here. Closest it played was 170 miles away in San diego

I guess it was because it was French.

Yes, another terrific French film. I bought it on VCD here in Singapore earlier this year. We may not have elections but we sure get movies quickly....

I can't wait for Riegn of fire, i've known about the movie for some time now, an aquintance of a friend worked on some of the CG. So i've been hereing about this movie for a year or so. It was origanally ploted as medevil fantasy but i guess the studio pushed for the modern angle, supposedly Mathew Mconahey's charater was suppose to be a barbarian type. Either way i think it's going to be good.

Hmmm..been wondering when a Man, Machine, and Modernistic Warfare vs. the almighty Dragon-type movie would be coming out. I have seen the trailer for it. Bad reviews or not, I'd go see it anyways, simply for the fact that I like dragons and/or the special efx. Ehhh..but that's just me, ya know? *shrugs*

Reign of Fire

Well, I am going to drive to Vegas this weekend and I thought I would kill some time before check in. I am looking forward to seeing this movie.

Hopefully I can order a beer in the movie theater.

"B" films

ROF has gotten bad reviews on AICN, but I think it looks like a quality "B" flick.

Sure, there's nothing wrong with "B" flicks. Casablanca was a "B" project, and kept getting people pulled off it for "A" projects. But it turned out the best film yet made.

The movie reviewer on our local TVstation said it was as bad as Battlefield Earth. I hope he's just one of the reviewers who think all sci-fi sucks.

Ebert's review

Wow, that's harsh :)

Just about anything is better than Battlefield Earth. The book is a nice (long) brainless romp, but the movie blew goats. Really.

I'd put RoF just a bit below Pitch Black. Its a B movie, sure, not meant to deal with "issues" or "character development" or even "plot" really. It is just supposed to look cool. Ebert should check his rationality at the door, put on his goggles of mindless entertainment, and just enjoy himself. Don't think, just watch. Aren't the dragons pretty?
