I'll admit to being a drooling Star Wars fanboy who thinks Lucas is a (fallible) genius. My suggestions to enjoy the new movies, assuming that's what you want to do, are: 1. Don't read spoilers - Stay away from the web sites and magazines. I'll always regret seeing that damn track on the Episode I soundtrack - The Funeral of Qui Gonn Jinn. What were they thinking? 2. Don't let your expectations soar- It's going to be good, not earthshaking. The original trilogy (with the possible exception of ROTJ) isn't likely to be topped by anyone, even Lucas. 3. Remember who the audience is - Not everything in the movie is geared toward your demographic. Star Wars will always be for kids too. 4. Don't expect Academy Award acting - The emphasis is on the plot and effects, not dramatic acting. Expect some bad acting in fact. 5. Don't take it too seriously - Any movie titled "Attack of the Clones" doesn't take itself entirely seriously. It's really pulp fiction at heart. One gripe I have about Lucas is his tendency to want to explain everything. This habit mars some aspects of the original trilogy in the special edition. For example, the wampa on Hoth was more terrifying when you didn't see it, Jabba was more interesting in Ep 4 when he was unseen. Almost nobody likes the explanation of miti-chlorians in Ep 1. The movies would have been fine without these "explanations" and sometimes a mystery should remain just that.
