I hope things go well for you Doc. I know where you are coming from. My folks are in their eighties and both have cancer. My dad has every males nightmare, prostate cancer and my mom has had issues with her lymph nodes, sorry can't remember what it's called. She almost died two years ago.
I too am not ready for this eventuality. I keep pushing it to the back of my mind.
Anyway, good luck with the whole job thing. I was layed off last July. I've been working on and off as a contracted network engineer but the work is not steady. Sometimes it gets down right scary.
At least you have a talent to fall back on when things get slow.
