Re: Just an observation...
Ziona's union excepted:
Christmas and New Year's Eve suck!
Why on Earth should I care about a holiday (holyday, could be related) for the son of a god in whom my belief ranges from not at all to tenuous. To see family? I get to see them whenever I feel like it, and my feelings for them do not teeter on the brink of insanity just because it is a specific day: I either love them or not. The possibility that some other guy may have been borne on any given day doesn't change anything. Do not get me started on the commercial aspects.
New Year's Eve—it is just another day (yes, just like a B-day). When/if I wake up on the 1st, 24 more hours will have passed since the 31st. But, you say that an entire year has passed since the last time that happened—big yip. Guess what; you can say the same thing about any day of the year except Feb. 29th. If you want to mark a day that actually stands out, pick that one.
I would say that the only good thing to come from these things would be the few measly hours we are granted as a reprieve from work. But what happens, we go home from work and begin doing those things that need to be done but never have time to get done during a normal week. I was almost happy to go back to work this year (I think that there is something wrong with me at this point).
At least stores and restaurants will be open on New Year's Eve—try finding an Arby's that is open on Christmas eve. You will be having No double dipping chicken tenders my friends, and that is the truth.
