[OT] Post them WWII propaganda posters here!

I also found this one really telling, it is subtitled France's Guilt. The flag has the the traditional french axiom which is translated as liberty, brotherhood and equality.

Thanks for the thread, Goodsport. WWII propaganda was one of the things I studied in college, and I'm pretty much always in the mood to see more of it. :)

I've seen a few of the German posters, they are often pretty much the same as the US. The SS ones I saw tend to be the more vile, no question at all.

The same is true for Japanse propaganda, for the most part. The central themes often vary, but the ways in which they are expressed are remarkably similar across all sides of the war.

jonesy: great link, thanks. :)

Heh, I like that "Borrowers" one - are those from Something Awful, perchance?

Old Bugs Bunny and Popeye cartoons had some pretty strong propaganda during WW2 - some of the racial caricatures in them are cringe-inducing. Actually, now that I think about it, Popeye was pretty bad even outside of WW2. I've seen episodes where he beat the hell out of caricatures of all ethnicities for no reason. That Popeye - he's a loveably salty old sea-farin' racist!

Thanks for the posters and the links, I had read several books about WWII propaganda but never thought that I could find so much info in internet...

KILROY WAS HERE

I know this isn't a poster, but it's close in theme to what's being posted here. The phrase "Kilroy was here" was a mysteriously popular bit of graffiti with (as far as I understand) U.S. soldiers in mainland Europe during WWII. I don't know why though.
