[OT]Pricing quarterstaffs

mooby

First Post
I was under the user name "Kilmor," but decided to change after realizing there was already a "Kilmore" here.

Anyway, I wanted to know a decent price one should pay for a quarterstaff. I would have added to my thread about Ren Faires, but I can't find it now. Maybe I'm missing it, maybe it's been relocated, who knows?

I found a quarterstaff, 6' long with metal tips, for $19.95. Is this decent? I don't want to get ripped off...

Thanks.

ON EDIT: I found the original thread. LINK

What you can't just go out and chop a branch of a tree yourself? Why pay for something you can make for free? Unless you live in New York and you might get arrested for attacking a tree with a hatchet.

I'm not an expert, but I would think because a manufactured quarterstaff is better balanced and possibly denser (therefore more damaging) than a relatively straight branch. Plus, as mentioned by mooby, some have metal tips, which increases damage as well.

Damage is important, he's going to be really damaging people with this?

In that case you're much better of with a baseball bat (carried in a gym bag) if your going to mug someone, its less likely to raise suspicion than a six foot iron shod pole, unless you are mugging someone at a Ren~Fair.

Just buy a good broom handle. Under ten bucks, guaranteed.

Unless you want a stained octagonal martial arts thingie... which, really, isn't gonna be that much better.

...which you must admit is pretty tempting.

You could tape two bats together with duct tape, then when you wanted two you could rip them apart and wield two deadly bats.

I am sorry that is silly and unhelpful, who could rip duct tape?

Also you'ld have to have the exotic weapon proficieny feat when they are taped together AND two weapon fighting and ambidexterity feats when they come apart to get the most effective use out of them. Who's going to want to spend that many feats to use a basic club?

Please the man asked a serious question can we get a serious answer?
