Money doesn't understand compassion or sympathy. Money doesn't care who's sick or who's emotionally unfit to conduct business. If you want to make money (and retain the confidence of consumers), you have to make tough decisions and put the welfare of the business before the welfare of individual people. It may not be nice, but we don't exactly live in nice or forgiving world. If you want to succeed, you must be ruthless, mercenary and utterly dedicated, while presenting a helpful, friendly face to your customers. If you want to sell things out of your car or at flea markets, then you can ignore this and do whatever you like. Otherwise, you will probably fail. Sad but true. I'm not saying I like it this way, but it's the way it is.Look at Dave Thomas who founded Wendy's Hamburgers, he looks like a nice guy in those commercials, but he was a tough (to put it mildly) corporate executive in reality. Of course, he's dead, but you know what I mean.
