Political assassination is a disgusting and devastating crime. NPR just reported the murder, but that's all I heard about it.

I don't mind [OT] posts in the general forum. Especially when important events occur. I am consistently impressed by the awareness and sensitivity of the members of this community, and I'd like to think if I had an important issue to discuss outside of the game, it would be treated respectfully -- even if the moderators canned it for being off topic.

From what I understand the police aren't treating it as a political attack, is that what is being reported in Sweden? It is a bit suspicious this tragedy happening so close to the vote.

As for the vote, it is probably extremely difficult (and expensive) to reshedule a nation-wide vote like that so I can understand the need for it to go on, but I imagine it will be a sombre affair.
