Yeah, like what Usagi Yojimbo would have used in SPACE USAGI. :)

They're very attractive, but I balk at paying hundreds for a wall-hanger. Personal preference, but I prefer swords ready for stage combat - I might actually be able to use them at some time!

Which reminds me of a very OT story about my latest production of MACBETH - but I want to wash that memory out of my mind...

These ones go a bit beyond decorative. I saw and handled the straight blade at my local RPG shop. They are functional; sharp and very nice. Also, there is a button on the handle that depresses a catch that keeps the blade secure in the sheath. The button must be depressed to draw.

Nice looking.

Too bad the handle is really uncomfortable... and they are NOT "battle quality", not by a long shot. The handle is basicly just welded on, with a rat-tail. Like pretty much any other sword of this nature. Makes a good wallhanger, and you can swing it around a bit (Fairly decent balance, considering)... but not that good of a sword, quality wise.

Got one when they first came because I needed something similar for a costume idea... and getting it for 99 was alot cheaper than the Blade sword, the other one I was considering at the time.

Well, I agree they certainly aren't "battle quality", but they aren't as bad as some other decoratives. I didn't find the handles that uncomfortable. Which one did you buy?

The katana... needed a sort of "officers sabre" for a starship captain costume. The only other vaugly sci-fi sword I could find at the time was, as I said, the Blade sword... and that wasn't curved, which I wanted. Katana was a touch bigger than I wanted, but it worked.

It wasn't exactly PAINFUL or anything... just not really all that comfortable. Too uneven and "jagged" for my tastes.
