You people just will not quit... and I really feel like I'm the guy stuck at a party about to tell a really bad joke, and I know it is bad, yet you keep heckling... anyway: My speech went fine, although nobody seems to care... perfect grade and all, and although I was a little too informative (and not that interested in the subject) it went off quite well... thanx to my incredible charisma score (can we say 13?). I also have a +4 morale bonus to giving public speaches, and a -4 morale bonus to speaking to anyone alone without pissing them off... So without further delay... Well actually... technically since it's a bad story delaying wouldnt' be that bad of an idea. I should delay this thing by filling up line after line with pointless drivel so that nobody can stand to read through the actual short story. Right? I am correct, methinks, that that would annoy people to no end... anyway... The person that recieved my topic was a relatively average guy. I don't know him that well, and I don't know what he does for entertainment, but he wasn't biased against the game, which is a good note. He's a bit... generic in that he wears band shirts and bluejeans every day. I think he's an idiot, but then again I'm a bit snobish about intelligence. His report started off about the name of the game (Gary Gygax, etc. etc.) All information that is readily accessable through the internet I guess. He quickly veered off however, and instead of reciting facts he went into a description of Tolkien's books. He commented about how the origin of "fantasy novels" was based on Tolkien, and DnD was based on "fantasy novels". That was a little bit off-base... but it didn't really bother me any. His essay included about... 80% information on LotR and about 10% information on the actual game (all obvious facts, like the game involves lotsa swords and spells and stuff). He mentioned the words, "forgotten realms" and "baldur's gate" a few times... talking about video games. Nothing major really. He didn't mention any of the bad publicity (association to suicides and such, or anything from Jack Chick). My only qualm was his innaccuracies, and the incredible shortness of his speech. I spoke for a good 10 minutes, often-times going off on a slant for a while on a particular subject. His speech timed in at just over 3 minutes (the minimum). Nothing particularly funny, and I'm sorry to disappoint. The only humor I got out of it was when the speech ended and the kid next to me (who knew it was my subject, and is a pretty good friend) said, "That kid's a dork, he plays dungeons and dragons" (in a really sarcastic sense, since this was coming from the two guys who actually played the game). Told ya, not that funny. A little interesting to hear all the stupid drivel that the guy had to say, and his rather horrible assumptions about the game being a derivitive of the LotR books, but that's it. Sorry to disappoint...
