i can't wait to hear all those new Martian rock 'n roll bands.
how apropos that my mom just found my old telescope in her attic and gave it back to me! i'll have to see if i can find a spot to set it up and take a gander at the Red Planet.
[Anyone know what the average distance from Earth to Mars is usually, in the last 10 years or so? Just for comparison's sake. [/B][/QUOTE]
It actually varies a lot. Sometimes Earth and Mars are on the same side of the Sun (about 35 million miles) and sometimes they are on the opposite sides (220 million miles) about 6 times further away.
On the other hand, you might mean what is the average close approach distance. That I don't know of the top of my head.
I am looking forward to an unparalleled view of Mars. However, if Uranus gets any closer, we should all prepare for an unparalleled view of a black hole. *shudder*
