[OT] Whats with that feeling?

Ever get that feeling as though you've just came back to yourself after a time of thinking? Perhaps your thoughts wandered from their wanderings or perhaps someone interrupted you. Whatever the cause, you just can't by any means remember what that thought was. Whatever it was you remember it being a positive or happy or perhaps just interesting and you wish you could remember.

I get these very rarely. Not just a regular day dream you understand, but something else. Usually no more than once a year or less and I find them occurring less and less as I age.

Do many people get these? I've personally encountered two others who claim to have something similar but most people just look at me like I've grown a second head.

I just got out of the first in about two years. I've gotten to thinking about how this could be a great Fiction or even game idea. Perhaps we're seeing into a place we weren't meant to go? Our thoughts have transcended the boundaries of what we could handle? Maybe its the fragmented remains of a child's mind?

I've always likened it to dreaming. Sometimes, if you are woken up from a dream, the details are very vivid. Other times, you can't recall a thing but you know you were dreaming about something.

While awake, I think it's like your train of thought is just moving very freely, almost in a dream-state. You're exerting very little to no conscious control over where your thoughts lead. It's like everything is in RAM and nothing is on the hard disk. If someone or something "snaps you back" to the here & now (a phone ringing, etc.). You have a hard time remembering what you were thinking about because your conscious mind wasn't "saving your work."

In any case, I know what you mean.
