Actually there are some laws specific to servers located in the US. For example, the Digital Millenium Copyright Act is targeted to such servers. California (and many oher states) has an anti-spam law targeted at servers located within the state.
Pretty much we need three questions answered before we can guide you to the right region of the law:
1) Is the server in question owned by a private person or entity (like a for-profit corporation, partnership, sole proprietorship, etc...)?
2) How is the server being used (IE is it used for a government web site?)
3) What is the nature of the censorship (because they didn't like what you said? because you tried to incite violence? because you posted pornographic material? because you harassed someone? because you told lies about someone?)
