[OT] Where Do I Go To From Now?

Michael Morris

First Post
Now, my friends, I have grown weary of Kentucky. I've grown weary of a complete and utter lack of people to game and a complete lack of a social life thrust upon me by my - job. As long as this situation continues, I might as well be dead.

So I've resolved to move away - but to where? I've been considering Columbus, OH, but at this time I'm open to most anywhere.

I'm not adverse to driving a truck, but only regionally such that I have my nights and weekend to myself. That leaves out most small towns. The best case is a "yard jockey" - this is a job driving a small tractor that shuttles trailers from door to door but doesn't actually go anywhere. In other words, a 9 to 5 position like the rest of humanity (or most of it anyway)

So guys, where should I move to - cause I don't want to move somewhere where there is no gaming.

I'd throw out Oswego, NY as a suggestion but I think we may be too small for you. We have a population of, I think, around 20 - 25,000 right now with college in session.

Well, you state only one city in your post, so why go anywhere else? ;)

I've been to almost all of them :)

Columbus is nice cause of Marcon & Origins...
Indy has Gencon
Atlanta has DragonCon

All of those are within 5 hours of my parents in case something happened that I needed to to return to them for any reason.

Well Mike, if you come to Mo'town, I might be able to hook you up for some Dusk games...at least in the sense you run em, we'll play em. ;)

Well..I can't speak for the job situation, cause I've never looked for jobs like that here. But in every other regard, Austin, Texas is a great place to live.

As long as you don't mind hot summers...

DC Metro

I can't comment as to the availability of any particular kind of job, here. But I can say that the DC Metro area has an ENORMOUS gaming community. Really, from about Richmond, VA to Baltimore, MD you can hardly spit without hitting a gamer. Add in the large number of high-population universities in the area, and you have a large concentration of nerdery in our nation's capital.

:D

Good Luck.
