(OT) Whoo hoo! I'm finally gainfully employed!

First Post
Sorry for the OT post, but I just had to post this news. After several months of looking, during which my life just kept falling apart big time, I finally got a job. I'll be working 2am-10am in the bakery dept of one of the local grocery stores. It's not the job I hoped for (that would've been the Book Processor job a library or receptionist at my local vet), but it pays well and is not that high stress.
Thanks so much to everyone at ENWorld for just being great people to "hang" with and helping me get through. Of course, my ex gets married in less than 2 weeks, so I'll be a mess then, but at least I've got this off my mind.

Congratulations! Maybe this will help you until you find something that you truly wish to do, such as one of the positions you mentioned.

Hang in there.

Congrats!

Requisite sleep advice: 2am-10am can be a tough shift, because by the time you get off in the morning the rising sun has already reset your biological clock. That will make it very hard to sleep.

Official recommendation: get 3 hours of sleep in the evening (10pm-1am) and 4 hours of sleep in the early afternoon (noon-4pm). Do that, splitting your sleep up into two discrete sleeping periods, and you should be fine.

Very important: buy a sleep mask or blackout curtains, so that you can make sure that your bedroom is COMPLETELY dark. You want no sunlight getting in at all. This will about double the quality of the sleep that you'll be getting during the day. When you can afford it, you may also want to buy one of those white noise machines (or just turn on a fan) to muffle outside noise.

Actually, I decided a few months ago. One of the local colleges has a two yr Vet Tech program. It's bee so long since I've been to school, I'm going to start out slow and take a class here and there at a closer scoll & transfer credits. It was a toss up between that and become a librarian, but as much as I love books, I realised that I love animals more.

Thanks for advice Piratecat. I have a tendency to become nocturnal, I've been that way ever since I was a baby, so I don't mind the times at all. In fact, I went grocery shopping a couple of times this summer at 2-3 AM because it was cooler.

Oh man, having pulled a couple periods of no work, I know all the horror that entails.

Congrats on the new found stability :D

Hmmm, did that just improve your Lawful tendencies? ;)
