OT-Zombie Survival Guide (a non-gaming book!)

There's a new book out called the Zombie Survival Guide. It's by Max Brooks, son of Mel Brooks. It's writen along the lines of the Worst case scenario handbook.

It's a semi-humorous (that means it's semi-serious too!!!) look a complete protection from the Living Dead. It's $12.95 from ThreeRivers Press. 256 p.

It's a look at horror film style aocalyptic zombie invasions. YOu pretty much have to believe in Zombies or just suspend your disbelief to read this thing.

Brooks used to write for SNL too so you know what to expect. THe book covers everything from teh origin of the creatures (a virus called Solanum) to how to kill zombies (head trauma to destroy the brain) and how to detect early warning signs of a zombie outbreak (because the government, especially this one, will try to cover it up). Don't try to outrun them. Remember the Rabbit and the Turtle? Of course the turtle didn't try to eat the rabbit...

I give it a 4 of 5 stars for oddity and originality; 3/5 for humor.

Just got it as a Xmas present, along with a bag of plastic zombie figurines. Could it be better? :D

Did you hear the author's interview on public radio at Halloween?

Right. Now describe to be exactly how this is not a gaming book? :)

To butcher a quote from Tom Lehrer - "When correctly viewed, everything is a gaming book."
