Other forms of defiling?

For those who don't know, defiling is the use of life energy as magic (more specifically the killing of life to power spells). It originated in Dark Sun.

Is there any similar effects in d20 products? I don't mean Blight Magic, but rather other effects magic might have on nearby life. I came up with the idea of too much magic will turn nearby animals and vermin into aberrations and cause normal plants to sprout seedkin (from Fantasy Bestiary) and am wondering what else might be out there.

Don't know of any... but funny, reading this post I immediately thought of an awakened, fiendish Hummer in a Modern campaign that created a wake of twisted, angry plant life wherever it roamed...

The Alienst SHOULD have had this effect on the local flora and fauna.
