D&D 5E Other ways to overcome the monster

:)
We kited one into an open (though camoflaged) Well of Many Worlds. Kind of like a pit trap.... And shot it into somewhere else.

Now there's been the constant joke/threat in all our campaigns since that the sky'll open up & an angry iron Golem will fall on us. Talk about a random encounter!

I once had a thief character die in absolutely spectacular fashion while trying to lure some trolls into a series of traps he'd set up. It was a brilliantly designed killzone gauntlet where each trap knocked the victim into the next one, and would have completely destroyed all of the trolls.
Except for one thing. He got the trolls to chase him toward the corridor full of traps, but then totally borked a simple attempt at jumping over the first trap...
Which set of an absolutely glorious Rube Goldberg sequence of him getting hit by every last trap he'd set up as the Dice Gods viciously pimp-slapped him with the Hand of Fate, lol...

Then there was the time in the same game that the party's two wizards memorized nothing but summoning spells and stampeded a herd of rust monsters through a battalion of heavy infantry.
