Overrun

Apologies if this has been covered recently, I don't have search and went back ten pages or so :D

My group has never used overrun. I looked at the SRD, and am still slightly confused. If anyone can shed some light on how it works I will be very grateful!

Overrun is a standard action.
If your opponent chooses to avoid you it counts as movement.

If you knock your opponent over does it count as movement or also as a standard action?
What is overrun good for? Is it a worthwhile combat manouevre?

I have a F4/C3 with STR 20 who normally has bull's strength cast and am thinking about taking Improved Overrun as my next feat.

Thanks!

... Is there a question here? :uhoh:

Edit: Oh, the line threw me off. I thought it was a big signature. :heh:

"You can attempt an overrun as a standard action taken during your move" So you're using your move action as well as your standard action.

The defender doesn't use a move action in avoiding.

It's useful because if you're successful, the defender is prone and also has to take a move action to get up, provoking an attack of opportunity.

Overrun is a standard action BUT you can do this during a move action.

Then starts the Standard action,
1. Move into the enemy's square, drawing an AoO
2a. If your opponent avoids you, you can continue to move as if the opponent was not there.
2b. If your opponent does not avoid, you roll your d20+Str bonus, and he rolls his d20 + Str bonus (or dex bonus, whichever he wants).
3a You win - opponent knocked prone. Continue your movement.
3b. You lose. Opponent rolls D20 +Str v your d20 + Str or Dex. Failure means you are knocked prone
4a You are not knocked prone - move back 5 feet the way you came and end your movement
4b. You are knocked prone - you have to move 5 feet back the way you came and fall prone, ending your movement

The question I have is...as it is a standard actiont hat is taken as part of a move action....can you do a double move and an overrun? I'd say no.

I agree, BUT you can overrun on a mount. So does that mean:

1) The mount uses its move and standard action and you have full action available?
2) The mount uses its move (or double move) and you use a Standard action?
3) The mount uses its move and Standard action, and you use a Move action to control the mount?
4) Something else?

Apparently benshearon isn't the only one who is confused. :)

Definitely no. If you're taking a standard action (as Overrun requires), you only have a move action left over, so no double move.
