Wow, that is some sweet stuff you guys posted there. I'm really looking forward to the first Mission Pack. Looks like it is shaping up to be great!

Those maps are top-notch! Just looking at them really generates that covert-op feeling. Kudos to you guys for the idea of using those!

Is Operation Dead Drop out already? I didn't see a release date on that page so I assume it is.

Really?

Personally I thought the whole concept of the senario was flawed. Don't you think if assassinating Saddam Hussian was easy enough to write up in a adventure then someone would have done it already? If the game is ment to reflect the real modern world (ie: Having real political situations and characters) then the teams chances of success are exactly zero.

Actually, despite talk show discussion of the subject, assassination of a head of state is banned under Executive Order 12333. The Administration has gotten around the order, in the case of Osama bin Laden and his Al Qaeda associates, simply by treating them as terrorist combatants -- not as heads of state or equivalent (who would be subject to the protection of the anti-assassination provision).

So no, nobody would have done it already, at least not if sponsored by the US. However, if they were about to nuke Israel, I am pretty sure the Executive Order would be rescinded (quietly), making way for the strike force that is the subject of this adventure. It makes sense to me.

Mistwell is 100% correct. EO 12333 (http://www.cia.gov/cia/information/eo12333.html) expressly prohibts the assassination of Heads of State, which is why there hasn't been talk of taking out Saddam via a US hit. (although we are actively encouraging native Iraqi's to do it themselves)

In the advent of a possible nuclear launch by Iraqi forces, I'm almost 100% certain that the above EO would be recinded and Saddam would be taken out like rotten garbage. :)

Now, as to how that might be possible... Wait for the adventure. :D

Hyrum.

Apologises from us Brits. We forgot our place. Of course, only the American government is allowed to make that sort of decision, being as how they run the world!

The Mission Pack in question is written from the perspective of the US I believe, that's why we mentioned why US sponsored assassination had not taken place before.

I have no idea if there is an anti-assassination law in England, though I would not be surprised if there is. For some reason I just don't see MI-5 assassinating foreign leaders. Perhaps that is a faulty perception?

Firstly, MI5 wouldn't (their area of responsibility is internal) - MI6 might though (as they are responsible for external affairs). However, the point of my post was that Bagpuss wrote:

(emphasis is mine)

He said someone, not any specific nation or agency.

You responded with:

assassination of a head of state is banned under Executive Order 12333

Immediately presuming that Bagpuss was talking about America.

HyrumOWC then compounded the situation by posting:

Implying that the only nation on the entire planet capable of policing the world is America.

As a member of the British Armed Forces I take offence at products, and opinions, like that!
