Pace of level advancement in 4th edition D&D

I've yet to be in a 4e combat that didn't take 2 hours play-time. (Who's getting these things done in less than that? Have you actually timed it, or are you just estimating?)

How many people are you playing with, 20? A normal encounter (level+0) will take my group about 45 min to an hour. Boss fights (level+3 and up) can take anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. And yes I have timed it.

The DMG even says tha combat time should be about an hour on average. So what are you doing thats taking so long?
