Paging Nightfall: A Scarred Lands Query

jdrakeh

Front Range Warlock
Okay, so I intended to buy a copy of Star Wars Saga at my favoritist online store (Noble Knight Games) and got a bit sidetracked by this. . .

Code:
Ghelspad - Campaign Setting (MINT/New) (Hardcover) $9.95
Termana - Campaign Setting (MINT/New) (Hardcover) $11.95
Divine and the Defeated (MINT/New) (Hardcover) $9.95
Creature Collection I (Revised) (MINT/New) (Hardcover) $11.95
Blood Bayou (MINT/New) (Softcover) $7.49
Burok Torn - City Under Siege (MINT/New) (Softcover) $6.95
Calastia - Throne of the Black Dragon (MINT/New) (Softcover) $6.95
DM Screen and Companion (SW (MINT/New)) (Softcover) $7.95
Hornsaw, The - Forest of Blood (MINT/New) (Softcover) $6.95
Mithril - City of the Golem (MINT/New) (Softcover) $6.95
Shelzar - City of Sins (MINT/New) (Softcover) $8.49
Wilderness & Wasteland (MINT/New) (Softcover) $4.95

Total Cost $100.48

Now, here's the deal. . . I stopped buying the original run of Scarred Lands stuff shortly after the Hollowfaust book was published due to my then play group's total lack of interest in d20. This seemed like a very good deal, though (even beats Amazon for MINT stock). So. . . how much of this stuff will be useable as-is in D&D 3.5?

I know that Divine and Defeated will require some substantial re-tooling, as I owned the first printing but past that, I'm clueless. I need your expertise, Nightfall. Did I get the great deal for 3.5 gaming that I think I did, or did I foolishly spend money on material that will take a rediculous amount of time to convert?

Please, oh mighty sage of the Scarred Lands, enlighten me :)

JD,

You're in luck.

3.5 compliant books: CC Revised (worth it!), Blood Bayou, Shelzar, CS: Termana. The others aren't but shouldn't be too much of an issue.

You got a good deal. You didn't get jipped. (If you paid more than 2 dollars for Penumbral Pentagonal I'd beat you myself. It's NOT worth it!!!) You're fine. It might take some tweaking and retooling since some of this stuff (I'll admit) there are editing gaffes (mostly in Burok Torn in terms of two Prestige Classes), but other wise I don't think you'll be too unhappy.

If you have further questions or concerns, check for me here: Scarred Lands Q&A with Nightfall

[Editor's Note: I will say for the sake of JD's health, I was being euphemistic. So therefore it's not an actual threat. My bad JD! ]

Excellent! The good news is that I don't labor under the delusion I'll be able to run D&D 3.5 by the RAW 100%, so some minor inconcistencies won't both me. Further, my future group of players has never played d20 of any stripe (I'm bringing them back to the table after a ten-year lapse), so no problems there, either. Finally, I plan on using rycanada's E6 rules, so that will cut out 80% of the fat from 7th Level upward.

Thanks! I suppose I'll have to bookmark that thread now :)

JD,

Please do. It might drop from view, but every now and then (especially when someone asks for an SL question to be answered), it comes back to the top.

*pauses* I have no idea what Ryn's ideas/stuff is but if it works for you, that's fine.

You can also read about the changes I'm planning for when I get my life's work done. IE Scarred Lands Revised Campaign setting.

It might not suit everyone, but I plan to make it suit the general "ideal" of the Scarred Lands.

"Magic items are nice tools, and certainly useful, but when it comes to survival, there are just some choices you have to make..."

That kind of deal.

Oh and of course the cannon fodder fight back hard...

Actually, that sounds right in line with the E6 rules! Fantastic! :D
