All,

Has anyone read Foundry's Miniatures Painting and Modeling Guide? If so did you feel its content was helpful? I don't have that much experience painting miniatures and was thinking of buying it but wanted to get some opinions first. Thanks.

Osprey has a very reasonably priced guide at like $15.00 that would be very helpful to a beginner. I have to agree with Frank though, the best information is already on the web.

It has all I needed about painting miniatures, for just 20$.

This is a fairly solid starting book.

I'd avoid the Darkstone Designs book. Bounces all over the place, doesn't use one miniature paint style consistantly, etc...

Reaper has been working on a book for a long time.

In terms of learning to paint, the Confrontation English forums, Reaper forums, and Privateer Press forums have some great painters that share a lot of their styles and techniques.

I also find the Mini Painter's Yahoo Groups to be a fantastic resource with MANY patient and skilled people always willing to help.

I'm not sure how much overlap there is between the UK vs. US sites; I would assume it's significant. But I haven't really looked at the UK site in detail yet.
