Paladin dragon mounts?

In my campaign the 15th level paladin PC is thinking about working towards getting a dragon mount.

We are thinking of leadership feat at 18th level but I wasn't sure if there were other options from various sourcebooks on using the paladin mount ability as a base.

He is not a straight paladin, only about six levels in the class, one in fighter, and eight in a homebrew templar one we made.

I own a bunch of sourcebooks (some of which I haven't fully read) and have access to a ton more, any suggestions on stuff to look up dealing with more powerful paladin mounts?

Check the WotC Book of Dragons (I can't spell it off the top of my head, but it is something like Draconomicon)

Use Leadership and check pg. 199 in the DMG.

If you're specifically interested in a dragon mount, check the Draconomicon. It has some detailed coverage of dragon mounts/cohorts.

Draconomicon has what you seek.

Your player can take the Dragon Cohort feat (allows a dragon cohort, treat dragon's ECL as 3 lower) and search for a very young gold dragon cohort (ECL 16 - 3 = 13). As a Large creature, a Medium character can ride it.

Ya know, my first reaction to your thread title was "I don't know why a paladin dragon would even bother with a mount, but..."

Reminds me of a suggestion a few months back to award a warrior "mount" to an awakened warhorse paladin...

Not that that helps you with your question, of course. Just some random musings.
