D&D 5E Paladin Mount - Is he a bag of holding ?

In case of emergency, just feed the warhorse all your treasure. Chances are that the magic and metal will survive inside, any extra-dimensional business with allow for better preservation, and waiting for it all to "pass" when the horse comes back will still have the goods in just the same sort of filthy condition that stuff from an ancient neglected dungeon in the first place!

(in case of dire necessity, warhorse pinata?)
What do you do if the loot "passes" in the mount's native plane?

I am also torn on this.

On one hand, I would be totally fine to allow for a player with the presence of mind to use the mount in such a way.

On the other... That damn NPC Pally decades ago took all the best loot with out mobile bag of holding and marched through a mystical portal. Of course I had to follow, she had all the loot. Then I ticked off some Drow, killed their Cleric and got banished back to my plane, while the NPC pally failed a dex save and melted into lava. DANG YOU HORSE OF HOLDING!

I guess you could say, I am fine either way.

Sure. The horse needs to be able to carry it, so too heavy or awkward won't work. And to get it to load or unload costs a 2nd level paladin spell - a steep cost in the middle of a dungeon crawl.

Anyway, the spell should be good for something - with 19 HPs a warhorse isn't useful as a mount at 5th level when you get the spell. Area of effect takes it out quickly.
