Paladin Mount's Attacks

(Update: Well I found the answer, at least as far as I can tell. The extra attack from bab doesn't apply at all. So the attack routine is 2 Hooves at +11 and one bite at +6. If this is wrong let me know, but I think that's it. Thanks all.)

Hello all, just a quick question before game time tonight.

We are going to be having a fairly large battle tonight and for the first time I'll be using my Paladin's mount. Here are some of the details.

Paladin is 9th level. Mount is a standard Heavy Warhorse.

Now at this level the mount has 8 HD. Therefore it fights like an 8th level cleric. So that means it's bab is +6/+1. It has a 20 Str so that makes it +11/+6. This was all easy enough to figure out, however I came to a small problem after this.

The Heavy Warhorse has three attacks listed, 2 hooves and a bite. How does the extra attack from BAB apply to this series of attacks, assuming a full attack of course.

I apologize if this has been explained somewhere before or if it's in the book. I just don't have time to try and find it before the game starts. I appreciate any help.

Thank you

Your mount may either:
(1) Use its natural full attack sequence: +6 hoof/+6 hoof/+1 bite (plus Str mods), or
(2) Make a full iterative attack sequence: +6 any/+1 any (plus Str mods)
It is not impossible, but extremely unlikely, you will have reason to choose option #2.

No, it can't.

"Creatures do not receive additional attacks from a high base attack bonus when using natural weapons."

Hmmm...never noticed that before. I guess it doesn't matter for a horse, but it would if you had a very advanced wolf animal companion.

A very advanced wolf animal companion would however gain this ability.

"Multiattack: An animal companion gains Multiattack as a bonus feat if it has three or more natural attacks and does not already have that feat. If it does not have the requisite three or more natural attacks, the animal companion instead gains a second attack with its primary natural weapon, albeit at a -5 penalty."

It's made very clear in the MM p. 312 under "Natural Attacks". ;)

IIRC, this topic is in the new FAQ, too.

Hyp is (as almost usual) correct.

Kind regards
