Skade, if you have access to Mythic Races, you might want to take a look at the Risen Demon. It's pretty much the exact character concept you just described. Risen demons are the opposite of fallen angels, so it's slightly different from the mortal-born Tiefling (although the Risen lose their demonic powers and become native outsiders, like Tieflings). A Risen fights for redemption for his dark past. Because of their dark past, they always register as evil, whatever their alignment.

In terms of game stats, the Risen is much more favorable for a Paladin than a Tiefling. For one, they have Paladin as the favored class, and they get +2 to Wis and Cha, -2 to Con. They also have some other abilities that work better for a Paladin. Like Tieflings, they're ECL +1. And, there's a special prestige class made for them, the Risen Avenger.

Unfortunatly I don;t have access to that book, but it does sound very interesting. Too bad the campaign will start before I could get it. Thanks a lot though.

Consider it stolen, if my DM shoots down my new Idea, I may use this idea. I love it a lot. I wish my players (and when I PC, fellow players) had as interesting backgrounds as this. We had someone, but he just disapeared 1 month ago.
