That is a sweet cover art piece!

Too bad for that warrior on the left, getting his head chomped on by a... are those what I think they are, Eric?

When can we expect to see the PDF version of this?
I don't have an exact date, but it will be after the print version releases at stores, (September if I remember correctly).

However, copies will be available at Origins and Gen Con for those who attend.

Eric, I very much look forward to getting my hands on a copy of this :) It makes me want to try out playing in Arcanis with the new system.

Well, I hope you do. Arcanis is growing and gettng bigger and bigger with each passing year. At Origins this year we sold more tickets in the first few hours than we did in total the year before. The Battle Interactive this year will be the biggest yet, with about 40 tables of Arcaniacs trying to save the city of Semar from being over run by the Ssethrics and the Malfelan Elorii.

Also, with our releasing of the print version of Year One: The Year of Ill Harvest which compiles all of the first years main story arc adventures, its a great time to jump in, catch up and join in the fun.

Those are the Voiceless Ones. The preeminant threat to the world of Onara and all life living above the Lavender Way.

Henry,

Is there any chance you can post the Table of Contents like was posted on LA Talk?

Respectfully,

Edward Kopp: Araniac at Large

Is this the same thing that Jason AKA Hellhound worked on a while back? If so, been wondering if it would resurface.

No, not quite. Jason's vision and ours weren't quite eye to eye, so after putting it on the backburner for a bit, we decided to try our hand at it ourselves. James Zwiers spearheaded the project and when he was finished with all this new material we were faced with the choice of having our players have to bring the WotC Psionics book, our 60+ pages of errata to make that book work, plus this new book to the table. It seemed a bit much to ask.

So we bit the bullet, took the Psionics SRD, applied all of the errata (from 5 years of world-wide campaign testing) and added all the new material. The result is a book that covers all the material necessary to use Psionics in Living Arcanis.

But we decided to tale it a step further. We've heard the complaints at the shows of people wanting to use Psionics in their home campaigns but it was "broken" in their eyes. So we're marketing this as the most playtested "under fire" conditions Psionics rules out there. So even if you don't play or use the Arcanis setting, you can still make use of the Psionics rules and new material. Add that extra dimension to your game - your players won't know what hit them. ;-)

I don't know...what do you think they are?

If you're think Arcanis' answer to Mindflayers, aka the Voiceless Ones, then yep...you're right on the money.

For those wanting to know more about our most dangerous threat, here's a little something I wrote for their entry in the book:

For a race so seemingly entwined behind the scenes of just about every major event in modern and ancient history, the Voiceless Ones are unknown to the majority of the sentient peoples upon Onara. Only those in positions of power, conspiracy theorists, the unlucky or the brave have any inkling that this threat even exists.

In the oldest and most obscure texts possessed by the Dwarves there is a small passage mentioning a race of “vermin and parasites that long dogged the steps of their ancient foes throughout their journey through the stars. Silent in word and deed, the maddening gibbering of their thoughts told only of conquest and servitude to Oblivion.”

What is known is that these creatures are extremely dangerous and possess a highly advanced and complicated civilization that rivals any above or below the surface of Arcanis. Some claim that they wield arcane powers rivaling that of arch-mages, while others say that they are unstoppable juggernauts of the battlefield. What all agree upon is that they have a repulsive taste for sentient brains and that, while they make not a sound, to the Awakened, their mind shattering screams are unending.

Voiceless Ones exist in a biological caste society, with each stratum successively more powerful than the one below it. Listed here is the most common and hence suspected to be the least powerful, of the Voiceless Ones encountered in the Lavender Way.

Regarding the city of Semar and the Ssethric attack...shouldn't you add the word, "again"...? :)

Is this releasing at Origins, too?

Henry,

Two questions, which you may or may not be ready to answer yet:

1) When will these rules become the official LA psionics rules? (In other words, when will I need to convert my Val psion to these rules?)

2) How much of a rebuild do you anticipate the new book will require for psionic PCs?

It would be unrealistic to expect anyone to HAVE to use the new Psionics rules at either Origins or Gen Con, so I believe you must have your character converted by end of September or October. You may wish to join our free Yahoo Group (LA_Talk) where all official announcements are posted.

2) How much of a rebuild do you anticipate the new book will require for psionic PCs?

Well that depends on your PC and what you want him/her to be or do. As you know, Living Arcanis has some VERY lenient rebuild rules. You may want to look over all the new options available to you first. We have crafted a new PClass for each and every Val family, plus extra ones as well. There are new powers and feats also, so there should be something for everyone.

Even if you decide to keep your PC as is, you will still want it as a convenient way of having all the errated powers and rules in one place. We tried our best to make this the most comprehensive and useful book possible. I hope and trust you won't be disappointed.
