partial wild-shaping?

druid feat or ability: partial wild/were-shape?

Does anyone know where I can find a feat or alternate class ability that allows a druid to exchange his/her full wildshape for (or maybe even full on acquire the additional ability of) partial were-like transformations?

Doesn't complete divine have a ton of wildshape-prereq feats that grant things like elephant hide, gain claws, turn treelike, and so on?

Or just work with the ref (assuming you are the player). Very few refs will object if the effect is entirely cosmetic and many won't mind if it is a bit more than that. I wouldn't; I've always found it underpowered and so wouldn't be averse to goose it a little if the player was really into the RP of wildshaping and not just trying to min/max.

And yes, there are lots of "Wild" feats out there, which have the wildshape ability as a prereq and allow you to do stuff in your natural form by spending a daily use, based on particular aspects of the animals/plants/elementals you could wildshape into. Complete Divine introduced them, but there've been others out there, like in Complete Champion.

BTW, most of these aren't worth the paper they're printed on, since full wildshape is usually much better than just getting the NA or a bite attack or a speed of the thing you could turn into.

You could take a page from the Hengeyokai from OA...or just use that race itself. They were shapechangers who had an "intermediate" form.

OP, have you seen the "Bite of the X" line of spells in Spell Compendium? There's several for different were-creatures: Wererat, Werebear, Weretiger, Werewolf, and so on. Each buffs you with some ability score bonuses, gives you some natural attacks, and the higher level ones give you racial bonus feats. But other than getting furry and growing bigger teeth and so forth, you retain your humanoid form. So it's basically like the lycanthrope hybrid form.

The Animal Devotion feat from Complete Champion gives you the ability to gain various animal abilities. Presumably, you change form a bit for stuff like flying or gaining natural attacks.
