Past/Apocaplyse/Cyberscape - Will they get SRD?

Kirin'Tor

First Post
Until d20 Past (or apocalypse....memory lapse which was first), every d20 Modern supplement made it into the 20M SRD very quickly (excpeting Weapons Locker, which is OGL itself). But the latest three products for Modern haven't seen a touch from the SRD...

Does anyone know, is WotC planning to add them at some point? Or is this a strategic move, keeping some certain products out of the SRD?

I've been wondering the same. While I don't care too much for Past, Apocalypse and Cyberscape are two I would love to see added, if not completely, then at least some chunks.

The common opinion is "Never, until a group of people bug Andy Smith enough".

Shoot Andy Smith at WotC an e-mail about it. Get your friends to do it to. It might work.

I had originally posted the following to the Publishers forum, but it only had one reply there. Perhaps here it will do better.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't seem to find the actual post, but I recall reading something from Andy at WotC to the effect that when material was added to the SRD/MSRD, the requests for particular parts by interested parties had some amount of weight.

Now, I'm not kidding myself thinking we have a lot of weight, but I do wonder if we DO have some amount of influence, however small, over what new material could be added to the SRDs. I can't help but wonder if one of the reasons stuff from d20 Past has not been added is that, overall, people were very unimpressed with the book and pretty much everyone I've spoken to decided they could either create their own stuff or get it from other publishers. I know that was my thinking.

Now, d20 Apocalypse and d20 Cyberscape, these books have stuff that I would very much like to see added to the MSRD, as well as other bits of rules that I wouldn't mind seeing added to the SRD. I wonder if we, as 3rd-party publishers, big and small, made it known to Andy that we would indeed like to see certain rulesbits added to the SRDs if that would have any impact.

What do you think, do you think we actually have any kind of input, however small, into this process? What would you like to see added to the SRDs that hasn't been added yet?

Anything and everything (knowing that won't happen). But I do beleive that "core" sets should be released - Past, Cyberscape, Apocalypse, and so on.

I liked d20 past, but I definitely think it should have been bigger and hardback - too much stuff to be covered for such a little book. It seemed like a hiccup in the d20 WoTC scheme of things.

After playing Tron 2.0 - I thought how cool this would be for the d20 system - we've tried to get the license but to no avail. I haven't looked into Cyberscape but if OGL, I would definitely like to take a crack at a "look alike".

There are a lot of things from Past, Apacolypse and Cyberscape I'd like to see hit the SRD, mainly so I could leap on them like a blood thirsty panda attacking an orphaned dingo. (What, that doesn't really happen? Hmmm, guess I owe the player of the mutant dingo an apology)

I guess I could write and bug Andy some more.

I'm sure most of the rules text will hit, eventually. If Wizards wants to be the go-to for its own game, surely they'll make it easy for others to use their stuff.

Note: I have all 3 books in question already

Heck, the things I'd like to see added wouldn't imperil WotC's profit-making abilities anyway.

From d20 past, all I want to see is the new firearms, the gangster, and the sorcerer added.

From d20 Apocalypse, I'd REALLY like to see the vehicle modification & barter rules make it in, if only to standardize the trade rules in all the various post-apocalyptic things out there (Darwin's World, Gamma World, Year of the Zombie, etc.)

From d20 Cyberscape, the netrunning rules.

They can keep the rest as closed content, for all I care.

Only if you're a card-carrying member of a major publisher, and you have others wanting the same thing.
