Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder E6] Let's Play Legendfall (Online Game)

Loonook

First Post
Ladies and Gentlemen,

It has come to my attention that some of you may want to actually play in this little city setting I am coming up with, and so I have decided to see if we can get a bit of a chat game going. For those of you who are interested in some of what Legendfall has to offer:

The City of Legendfall is a deepwater port city carved out of the cliffsides of the State of Fivegrace. The locale finds itself full of adventuresome individuals making trade at sea, and can lead to a thousand stories and twice as many lies and tricks. The city is built both into the cliff's face (subterranean chambers house many of its poorer denizens and those seeking shelter from the ravages of storms), on the cliffside, and Topside, a bustling city that houses both estates of the wealthy, grand vineyards, and fine craftsmen.

I will be adjusting the standards accordingly, and this will not be a 'hack-and-slash' sort of game. We will be using Pathfinder as the "core rules" with the E6 variant, with all players starting as level 1 Humans (races possibly available, but they will have the appearances of humans). If you wish to have possible starting points for your characters please review my series here or look into the sadly dormant Adventures of Jon Harrow. I am looking to 'host' this game via IRC on Friday or Saturday nights, and am looking forward to gauging interest.

As part of this game I would also like if players form a single Organization to bring to the table. These organizations will serve as points of contact for the starting players, whether they be Temples to the Sun Lord, guilds of rogues, arcane schools, noble houses, etc. Of course this is not to be seen as a 'freebie' source for gifts and such, but will allow me to gauge your interests.

After discussing with some potential players I have figured that the following rules should be set:

- 25 Point Buy for Character Creation.
- Maxed Wealth for Player Class at 1st level. Treat Yourselves!
- We will be using a Contacts based system, providing 2+Cha Modifier (Min: 1) contact to each player. Contacts will be useful, so please be sure to discuss any possible Initial Contacts for me.
- We're sticking mostly with the Base Classes, and I am looking for those willing to play non-casters (the Caster slots having been taken).
- Remember this game will be focused around an Urban Seaside Metropolis. There will be a lot of options for player development, from city intrigue, privateering, smuggling, etc. as available activities and hooks.
- Firearms and the Gunslinger class will be allowed. Again, treat yourselves! :)

Any specific questions may be addressed here or through me on AIM (same name as here).

Looking forward to getting this on the go, and we are looking at a Saturday night game so hope you're ready to set your sights on Legendfall!

Slainte,

-Loonook.

Maps!

Just posting maps for those who will be interested... From top left clockwise:

1.) The full map of the Known World, with the red breakaway area able to be covered by a slow ship or trader in a season.

2.) Major Rivers and lakes marked on the map (not to scale in their thickness)

3.) Regional Influence Map.

4.) Just the basic map drawn to the Region.

Cultures of Legendfall

Due to questions from various individuals figured I would post some of the Cultures around the region. While the Hundred Hands (See below) have taken over the lands, there are many unique cultures that have holdings within the area. Below is the map and a brief history of the region and its groups:

Taluman:

"Bless this shield, Lady, and keep my child whole. Bless the blade, Lady, and let our enemies fall. Lead with your gloried banners and defend us, Lady, when the land is full of our enemies."
- Mother's Blessing, ancient Taluman chant.

The Taluman (Tal-you-mahn), or Axemen, are large men and women who have gone from a bellicose nature to defending their ancestral homeland. Taluman are skilled warriors with axe and shield, and their bald pates are marked with intricate drawings made with dyes from their trade with prized Methiran indigo or their native woad. Creators of Taluman Blue dyes, the Axemen also produce fine stocks of wool and flax to be spun into linen textiles and material. Taluman trade with the Children provide the wood they need to burn their hearthfires, and the Children's strong ships have provided for the Taluman's bluesailed mercantile ships.

The Taluman have an equal society, and both men and women can be called to the Axe. Due to their culture few Taluman convert to the faith of the Paldo and their Sunlord with its prohibition against male bloodshed. Taluman mothers control the home and its finances along with the choices of their children into adulthood. Many Taluman prentice with the Children's Woodsmiths, learning the arts of carpentry to create fine woodworks that are only surpassed by the Children themselves (and far more common in the homes of the new nobility).

The Taluman diet consists of foods akin to a Mediterranean diet, as their sandy soil and heat allows for the growth of similar foodstuffs. Taluman spices are prized throughout the world and thus the Taluman merchant fleets are quite beloved among all ports of call.

Methiran -

"Silver, Prayer, and Blood. The price of men, gods, and lies"
- A Methiran riddle, translated from Ancient Methir.

Stoic, calculating, wise and untrusted. The view of most on the Methiran (Met-fear-an) has not changed from the time when the Ancient Methiran lords ruled from the the Horns. The Methiran held a small empire that extended from Isledor curving all the way to the lands of the Children. An uneasy peace has existed between the Taluman and Methiran for time immemorial, but the Isledoros and Longstrider Clans still recall the oppression and trade begrudgingly for the things that the Methiran supply.

Silver is the metal of exchange for the Methiran, and the Silver Horn is still considered the standard for trade in the region due to the lack of gold in the range. Methiran hill farmers specialize in the cultivation of cannabis and canvas fiber, and the drug is used by many Methiran nobles in strong liquor known as Venom. The Fangs of Methiran, skilled warriors who have long ago lost the ability to feel some pain due to their use of Venom, are prized for their fury in combat and the frenzy they bring as warriors in the wars around the Horn as hired men.

The Methiran who live in the area surrounding the Rivers of the Three Ladies cultivate fine wild rice and indigo, and their hardwood skiffs bear the harvest in to port along with the tart Meti berries that are used in ship's biscuits to protect against scurvy.

The Methiran have a strong culture of ancestral worship, which many find strange due to the Room of Elders found in most homes of the Methiran. These Rooms carry the weapons, tools, and preserved skulls of their ancestors placed into alcoves, while the ashes are blessed and placed into the fields for good harvest. Small shrines can be found in each home, and the Great Hall exists in the ancient Methiran capital where the kings, priests, and generals were born to upon death for preservation.

Methiran engineers maintain the great works of the Ancient Methiran through scholarship. The capital at Evergreen boasts lamps that are fed from unknown power, and even in the coldest of the Southern season the homes of the Ancient portions of the city are warmed by secret means. The sewers of the Methiran are marvels of ingenuity, and some of the ancient cities like Legendfall still keep Methiran architects to maintain their public works projects.

Isledoros -

"Arise, Children, and Embrace the Call."

Isledor. The Unchained Isle, a place of pleasures of the flesh whose beauty is renowned throughout the World. While the Horn is known for its temperate beauty, Isledoros (Ill - a -door -os) flaunt both beautiful scenery and people. The coppery skin of Isledoros combines with bright gem-like eyes, and the priests of the Sun Lord have embraced the Bejeweled Daughter, Isledoros divinity of beauty, trade, and protection, as a Daughter of the Sun.

Isledoros dress in bright finery, and their skills in textiles are the highest fashion. Isledorian textiles are made from all of the materials found in nature, but their rare silks made from enormous moths found in the mulberry orchards of the Isledorian, along with the rare dyes and chemicals they have made for dealing in textiles and tanning.

Paldo courtiers are often born and raised from Isledorian stock, and Isledor is the home of many fine houses of training of nobles. Isledor is also the home of some of the few sources of gold in the Horn, along with a rare material that is said to glow in the darkness of the caves it is found in. The priests of the Bejeweled Daughter make items of worship from the glowing gem, and drink a potent liquor made from the glowing dust as the Radiant.

Just a sample here, more to come of the others :D.

The Two Empires

Suoj d'si, suon d'na, sual d'Ka, sumi d'Mi.
"All eyes to the Sun, all hands to the Sword, all hearts to the Cause, all minds to the Way"
- Imperial motto of Paldo

I Rai, Ram, n Roi.
"Of Crown, Staff, and King"
- Imperial Motto of the Marsein

It was said after the Pretender that the armies of Guille Marse and the fallen hero Jon Paldi spread to the four corners of the world. With the knowledge of the Ostari and their dead gods the men brought a hundred thousand men across the Seas. From the temple gardens of Lilion to the molten throne of the Lord of Dragonteeth they brought an Age.

The Age brought the end to empires, and as the shattered Osti rebuilt their nation in the aftermath of the Declaration their soldiery built a world
- Gar of Legendfall, Great Scribe of the Marsein Imperium.

In five hundred years a hundred thousand men formed an empire. It is said there was once a continent in the East, one so large that a man could ride a year and a day on clear roads and not breach the opposing shore. It was a place of great wonder, and the gods walked the earth.

The Declaration that caused the Hundred Hands to take ship stands engraved on a stele in the capital of the Marsein Imperium.

No man born to the Sword can hold property.

It was a declaration by the victor of the Wars of the Pretender, twenty five years of sweat and sword. And it was on that day that the Hundred Hands of the New Imperium, formed only a year hence, began the Sack of Ostar. They marched to the seas, taking all that they would need. Shipwrights, strong hands, herbalists, and smiths found their way to the Hundred, and when the New Imperium sent their lapdogs the men were ready.

Twenty five years of battling wizards had hardened them. Men who could see through illusion and stab a sorcerer in the heart, who shrugged off their bolts of flame. Professors of the Faith were put to the sword, their idols given to the Chaplains who had fought in the trenches at Primdeka and commissioned ten thousand to the depths at Seaside.

They set sail to the reaches, and men were lost. Still others joined the soldiers, and they carved their way to freedom. But in bringing themselves freedom they created two Empires.

The Paldo:
The Martyrs of Paldi, the warriors of the Free City, knew that they must separate to hold to oaths sworn by their fathers, and began to make their own way through the worship of their Sun Lord, the child of the two Sisters of Shade and Light.

They raised sons and daughters to the Faith, spread their ways, and took to the native climes. While they had killed with their swords and armor that bore the spikes of the Sun they repented the way of the Sword, so that no man could carry a blade to strike another and draw blood. They became warriors of Faith, and their Empire is based on the tenets of the Sun Lord being the True God. They do not prevent worship of other divinities as long as homage is paid to their Lord first, and appropriate tithes are levied.

The average citizen of the Paldo Empire would wear loose clothing of simple linen or wool. There is a heavy theme to the Sun in their way of life, and their Brothers (the priests of the faith) and Brother-Protectants (the warriors of the faith).

Marsein Imperium

The Sons of Guille Marse, the Marsein Imperium is made up of a patriarchy of skilled warriors chosen from the Marsein Hands. Each Hand, a thousand men strong, lives a strict regimented lifestyle in training for the Return, when they will rise up as one and return to the ruins of Ostaria and take what is due.

Children, both male and female, are drafted into service of the Marsein Hands for three years of their lives to outposts across the Empire. Any Marsein who is chosen to join the Hands beyond this period will be richly rewarded, though deserters are treated harshly.

Figured I would present the two main Empires of the region.

Criers and Whispers in Legendfall - Spring

“News of the ‘Fall lords and ladies, and the news is interesting. The Ambassador of Zajan is to be in from the Killing Dunes to speak to the Fivegrace. Lord-General Lyrin has stated that the Ambassador is “not welcome in the Keep of St. Loren”, as the Marsein have sent three Hand to the Jardin rebel cause.

“See the gi‘phants and watch your steps. Watch the beauties of the Dunes, deadly with their sickles and servants to the Great Lord. Tis true the rivers run with silver, and many a picker will find his fill with the fat almond-eyed lords set to dice and dine on our…luxuries ”

"Koute di kanpe la Paldo anboche de dwèt yo pran nan limyè Seyè bato yo a, e li gen anpil yon nonm yo te kwense nan sèvis la. Moun modi solèy la pa kapab voye tout pitit gason yo koupe, yo dwe kèk nan jenn gason nou eh? "

"Lord Evirston needs these sweets for his Spring Ball. A fine to-do..."

“A hundred silver for the hands of the Silvertongue and a tenner for his gang. They wear their blacks and take from the Merchants, and I bet they mean to bring business.”

"Vèt Bliss ke jodi a e li te youn nan ti te nan ti fi yo deja. nou gen yon nòt mwatye pou chakvizit, li pa janm tyres!"

"Rats! Hundreds of rats! Swarm at night, they taking the dogs now... But soon, mark me words and watch under your skirts."

"Kevad, kuulsusrikas ke’! Mehed tulevad tagasi kogu koos riisuda ja palk. Paljudtüdruk leiad abikaasa ja pojad päike on raske hoida meid maha tagasi! "

"The Sun Lord's Protectants inducted thirty-and-three men to the Service. If they don't screw how do they make so many priests to Protect?"

ասում են, որ նայելով ժողովրդական կլոր նավահանգիստը, եւ ոչ ոք չգիտի, թե ինչու.փնտրում լավագույն ստանալու մասին, բիզնես, թե փնտրում են այստեղ.

"We set sail in the fortnight for travel Across. Spring is the season for setting out, to miss the worst of the summer storms that come round the Horn. If you wish, I'll bring a fine silver chain..."

((Anyone with Linguistics hit me up for translations for your languages :D).

Slainte,

-Loonook.

It looks like a neat game. I'd be interested in playing, depending on the time you wish to run it. I'm also living on the west coast.

I have admired several of your economic posts and can tell the game will be a BLAST! but alas I have gotten busy
