Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Just Keeps Looking Better

Not for very long. I think the subset of folks who don't want anything new, ever, is pretty small.

I agree. Like that dwindling group of people who still play OD&D, Basic, of AD&D. I mean, after 20+ years of not having any new stuff, most should have moved on and embraced 3e and 4e by now...

Either my sarcasm meter is on the fritz, or you're describing this subset of players as something other than "pretty small."

Yeah whats with these people? You would think that after 20+ years of no support they would give up. Its not like there's some old school renaissance thats gonna sweep through the gaming community and provide new material or anything. How absurd.:p

Perhaps, but the number of people who profess to be playing an older edition of D&D on this board, were upset at the loss of older-era PDFs, frequent Dragonsfoot and other grognard-boards, create or play retro-clones, and/or who rail adamantly against 2e, 3e, and/or 4e leads me to believe they aren't a weird splinter-cell group of players anymore.

Perhaps its the squeaky wheel getting the kick, but it appears there are a lot of people whose opinions can be summed up as "I can't stand 3.X anymore, and you couldn't pay me to play 4e, so I'm playing X" where X is any edition of D&D made before 1988 (rarely does 2e become the "I'm going back to" edition.)

And let's not forget that people born after those books that were edited and took the Delorean, bought em and play with em :D

Going back to the pathfinder thing:
I won't play PF. I'm happy with 4th but I'm also happy that there will be another option and hope it has a huge success.
More sucessful games = better industry = fun for everybody!

The only problem is that the old White Wolf vs AD&D is now PF vs 4th Ed. But well, the world works that way, Ati vs Nvidia, AMD vs Intel, PS3 vs XBOX, Cake vs Pie, D12 vs the world... :D

In a way, that's a good sign, right? That they had the time and ability to notice flaws and mistakes?

I very nearly posted about how impressive it was that a game company of the early 80s could be bothered to do something that many modern publishers can't or won't do (i.e., check for errata and produce an official errata document).

I don't have an all or nothing stance with pathfinder. I took the things I like such as the cleric's channeling because I hated turn undead. I also took their version of the elf, and half-orc. As far as class I use certain fighter features, and I have told my players they can use the PF Paladin. I need to look over the sorcerer's bloodline abilities to see if I will take those also. I have thought about the way they made tumble into an opposed check. The adventures seem to be pretty good so I will probably buy those as needed.

I do know I will not be playing 4th edition.
