Pathfinder 1E pathfinder minimates?

What is the point of these? They look kinda crappy to be minis, and I could make Lego minis if I was going for that look...
Are they a collector item or for kids or does it have to do with all the points of articulation? Sorry if I come off like a hater, I'm not I just feel like there has to be a reason these exist, and according to google are really popular.

They're just collectible things that people like.

As to why people would collect them... people collect stamps and beanie babies, wine bottles and ticket stubs. My dad collects baseball cards. There are some mysteries we may never understand.
