Paizo's reputation for writing and quality shine again with the Advanced Race Guide. This book is chock-full of flavorful editions to existing races, new races, and rules to create even more races. Bring a little sanity back by using (mostly) balanced official rules to form your custom races and tweak core ones. Also learn that yes, dwarfs really are the best core race, so there you stinking elves.

This is one of the weaker Advanced XXX Guides. Yes, it contains a lot of new races which are interesting, but the support material (feats etc) seem added as an afterthought by a less experienced writer, and the system for constructing races is confusing and contradictory. Just as an example; getting a swim speed is less "expensive" than getting the +8 bonus to Swim checks that is inherent to having a swim speed. Not pretty. Still, the races themselves are lovely, and the production values are up to the usual high Pazio standards. Editorial control is not.
