Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Ultimate App!

D20Soft

First Post
Hi all! My name is Alex and I wanted to share my IndieGoGo campaign with you all. I'm trying to create the ultimate Pathfinder app, so that you can take all of your game with you wherever you go, right on your phone or tablet! Some of the features the app will have are listed below. Right now I'm looking for backers, as well as ideas for what else could make this app the complete go to resource for lovers of Pathfinder!

  • A fully functional character sheet, allowing you to manage all of your character attributes directly from your phone or tablet, including inventory and stats.
  • Character generator, so you can roll up a random character on a moments notice, perfect for those on the fly pickup games.
  • A fully functional spellbook, which will allow users to not only manage the spells they know, but the spells they have memorized for the day.
  • A rulebook, containing all of the openly licensed rule sets, in a convenient to use and easily searchable fashion. Take everything you need to play with you on your phone or tablet, no need to cast Floating Disc just to carry your rulebooks around anymore.
  • Built in dice roller. I can't guarantee your DM will allow it, but I can guarantee they will be fair and fun!
  • A beautiful and intuitive UI, made to look like an old book... very geek chic! You'll never want to go back to pen and paper again. It'll be so beautiful that even pen and paper purists will be tempted!
  • Make the app available in as many formats as possible. Right now, if the funding is successful, both an Android and an iOS version will be developed. If funding is successful, a Windows Phone version would be a stretch goal.
Check it out @ IndieGoGo

If you like this, please share the link (D&D and Pathfinder - Tablet and Phone Comprehensive App -- Indiegogo) as much as you can, as this can only be a success with help from the community.

While I'd not use it (not much for too much technology in my life) it sure sounds like it would be useful for those who carry their gadgets around all the time.

Welcome to EN World.

Thanks for the welcome. I certainly understand that there are many who prefer pen and paper. My hope is that this can be a useful resource for those who want it and that people can use it to whatever extent they choose. I personally would like to move my whole game (save my dice) to the digital, it's just easier to carry only the tablet to me. That said, I'm hoping there will be enough functionality that if people wanted to use just the rulebooks or just the character generator, etc, that they will find value in it. I knew going in though that there are purists who love the smell of those tomes...err...rulebooks :-)

For me it is mostly that I have 5 or 7 books open at the same time, or more. Whether this is in PDF form (my screen is ALWAYS too small) or with real books, the area I work in constantly looks like a battlefield. ;) A tablet would just not do.

But I have several players who are so super organized and always know exactly which book to open, one by one. I am not sure if to admire them or feel sorry for them. :D

But carrying only the tablet is a big plus, I either carry a laptop or we just play in our place (or online).

You might actually find my planned rulebook section useful if you tend to have to search many books to find what you want. My goal is to take all of the openly licensed books and place them under a single search function, so that searching a term gives you all the possible results from all the open rules books at once :)

That would indeed be helpful.

What would also help - a way to add house rules. This is the one problem i see with most ideas. Not too many people play with the RAW.

Good point, you are right, I hadn't considered that... an "add a rule" type function that let you define a set of house rules. I'll take note of that.

I'm waiting for Hero Lab to release their iPad version and also waiting to see what Paizo comes up with.

However, who knows when those will be done so I will check out your app when it's ready, but FYI, I don't think you are allowed to use Pathfinder's art work or name when promoting it. You can refer to it as PFRPG, but not use the Pathfinder name, IIRC.

Good luck!

Interesting, I'll have to check into that. My understanding of the OGL license that Pathfinder is released under is that, as long as your content resides wholly under their games rules and properly credits Paizo for their trademarked names (like Pathfinder), which mine would obviously, it's fair game. There are several apps currently in the marketplace for Android that use the name explicitly. Thanks for the heads up though.

I'll just throw my two shekels in...

I can't say I'd be at all interested in a tablet or phone application. However, if it allows for the addition of house-rules, and it makes my job easier, I would look at a Windows application (which I could run on my notebook or netbook).
