Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder, where to start?

Just getting into the books and one of my players asked if there are extra rules for stuff in combat such as being able to parry and riposte, so I thought I'd ask you guys. Thanks

As far as I know the only game mechanic that gives a character the ability to parry/riposte is granted by the Duelist prestige class.

As far as rules to parry that any character can use, I don't think they specifically exist. Things like Fighting Defensively or using the Expertise feat are supposed to represent a character who is focused on parrying / dodging blows that round in a more abstract way, I would imagine.
