D&D 5E PAX East: D&D Live Game 2014 Acquisitions Incorporated

Are we talking about Will Wheaton?

No, Wil Wheaton. ;)

Quite frankly... having read most of ForeverSlayer's opinions over the years on these boards on what he believes constitutes good D&D... it's impossible for me to get bent out of shape over his opinions on the A.I. videos too. FS has his view on D&D, but I think it's fair to say that view is rather narrow on the spectrum and thus does not tend to get much play. It is what it is.

I didn't see Wheaton in the video anyway so that's why I was confused when Mistwell mentioned him.

How do you know how much play my view gets? For every person that likes something, there is another who doesn't and trying to shove my view into the narrow spectrum is BS.

I'm not sure if you were watching the same thing as I was but it was awful. Their jokes and puns were not funny in the least, Chris Perkins sounded like he was reading from a sheet of paper, there was no depth in the way he was describing things. I don't give a flying monkey's turd what Weaton has done. I speak for myself and those that share my opinion on the matter. I had a few of my friends, who don't play RPG's at all and which I am trying to get into the hobby, watched it and looked at me with pitty. They asked me "is this the kind of thing you spend your free time on?" I told them thank god a lot of games don't operate like this one and that RPG's really are fun and not this annoying.

Look, a woman sitting on the toilet get's millions of views singing "sittin on the toilet" so the tastes of society have really dropped and this is no exception. I'm actually almost ashamed to call myself a gamer after watching this. I actually cringe for those people.

I heard WotC were thiiiiiiiiis close to inviting you to star in the next one.

Uh, no. That's true for some things, but not all things. And I think it's fair to say that you not liking comedians playing D&D because you like to "get things done" and you think it's a bad way to promote D&D is an opinion within a very narrow spectrum of views, and generally not a productive one at that. That doesn't make it a bad opinion - but this idea that you entitled to call your opinion representative and worthy of automatic appreciation is ill informed. Sometimes the gadfly in the group is rightly derided.

You just sound really bitter that a lot of people enjoy something that you don't.

Maybe it's time to consider spending more time on what you actually enjoy, and less time on complaining about other people liking things on the internet? Just a thought.

... to please stop with the interruptions with all the bad jokes and comments.
I'm starting to suspect you've never actually played D&D.

Seriously though, I think their approach is far more accessible for prospective new gamers than. say, a video of people playing the game as SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Then again, I've been playing --bad jokes and interruption and all-- for almost 30 years now, so I'm not really in a position to tell what might appeal to new players.
