(PC) FPS game recommendations

I've actually played both Max Payne games on my PS2. I enjoyed them quite a bit, though I have to admit that even though the sequel looked better, it felt "off" as far as controls went.

Are any of the "horror"-y FPS worth looking at? F'rex Condemmened, Manhunt, etc...
I played Clive Barker's Undying, and liked that a lot. The horror aspect can work really well if done right...

I'm not sure if there is any fan content for it, but the patch that I used unlocks some bits that were left out by the developer (just minor stuff).

Aweosme game, can't recommened it highly enough!

There's two "fan patch makers", I've go tthe 5.4 patch, when you install it, select the PLUS patch, when offered.
Note, this is an adult game! It's quite dark, sexy and knocks politicians etc, hehe.

humour is damn brilliant, as are the many, many film/horror references and homages ;)

You simply must get The Orange Box. It has:

Half-Life 2 - The best single-player FPS ever made, hands down. If you were a fan of the original Half-Life, you will probably love the sequel.

Half-Life 2, Episodes 1 and 2 - Neither was as good as Half-Life 2, but they are still head and shoulders above most FPS games out there.

Portal - Not an FPS, but one of the most creative and innovative games I've played in years.

Team Fortress 2 - Great fun if you're into the multiplayer FPS scene. If not, the other four games are still more than worth the price.

This should be your first purchase. It'll probably keep you busy for a while.
