PC. I've built my own PC computer in the past (twice) for about 1/2 of what I would have bought a new computer for and gotten more power because of it. Not something easy to do with a Mac. I have nothing against Macs but some of their 'raving fans'.....

My first computer was an Apple II+ in 1979. I have used Apple computers ever since, at home. The fact that this seems to bother countless people is simply an unintended bonus.

...intuitive, easier to use, and more functional.
That's why I prefer Macs. Granted, it's all in what one is used to, I suppose. I have trouble remembering how to launch and quit apps in Vista.

...making music on a PC has involved several orders of magnitude more irritations, delays and inconveniences whenever I do it.
GarageBand is a wonderful app for hacks like myself. Plug in a MIDI/USB keyboard (or use the on-screen keyboard), add a little accompaniment, and off you go! I recently added the "Voices" Jam Pack; the Gregorian voices are inspiring all sorts of ideas.

Before my town had an Apple Store, I used to hang out in the "Apple corner" of CompUSA on my lunch break, to help answer questions of the curious shoppers, when the Apple rep was otherwise occupied. Does that qualify? ;)

I have no real strong preference one way or the other... I've used both, and they both have their strengths and weaknesses, depending on what you use them for.

But, for years my dad worked for Sperry-Univac (which later became Unisys) so I grew up with PCs at home. PCs are what I've always used at home and at work, mainly because I'm used to them and how they work.

That said, it wouldn't be an extraordinary hardship for me to switch to a Mac, if I ever decided to.

PC. Every computer at school and work - at multiple different offices and labs - use PCs. I'm too tired and lazy to deal with some other type of computer.

Edit: That said, I do miss getting Spiderweb Software games before PC gamers did back in the good ol' days when they were still making Exile and I had a Mac.

Both. I prefer OS X for the most part, but I was weaned on Windows. My main computer is a Macbook but I have a Windows laptop (that I'm using for this post) since a lot of things I use are PC-only (DDI for one).

*assuming that ration holds up.

In the general population, the Mac numbers are much smaller. Depending how you count, Mac seems to have about 8% to 10% of the US market, and much less of the world market.

Me, I'm a Windows XP person. My workplace was... system agnostic - they'd provide you with a decent box of whichever type you preferred. I found it interesting that the Mac users all had more problems with their macs than I did with my Thinkpad.

Oh, and as for Linux, I have only one thing to say...

Eh, I don't like Vista either. I'm glad that the computers I purchased recently included free downgrades to XP. I do still have Vista on my laptop, mostly from sheer laziness. I just don't use my laptop enough for it to really bother me yet.

When I took non-linear editing in college, my biggest problem was learning how to use a Mac. The instructor was excellent with editing, but he felt like a Mac was so easy to use that he shouldn't have to explain how to use one. The head of my department felt the same way (even though the course descriptions specifically stated that the course taught how to use the hardware and software). That irked me. It wasn't too big of a deal to figure out for myself or find answers on forums somewhere, but the fact that many Mac users I encountered can't or won't explain basic functions is frustrating.

I have several bad experiences with Macs and Mac users, enough that I don't want to use one and can't imagine ever wanting to. But to each his own. Not every Mac user has experienced my unique circumstances. I do think that having options in the marketplace is a good thing, even if I don't like every option available.

I've seen people on both sides of the fence on music. I personally use Acid on my editing platform, but that's basically because it came with my copy of Vegas. I don't really do enough with music to develop a preference. For non-linear video editing, I prefer Vegas to Final Cut.

I still miss playing chickens as instruments in Jam Session for the IIgs:

Mac. My desktop machine, my laptop and my work machine are all Macs. I have a dual-boot setup for the occasional PC game, and I run VMWare Fusion for the DDI Character and Monster Builder.
