PC or Mac?

now before you dash for your burnmaster and eat some fire ant nectar (yes, i've been playing f3 a lot lately), this is not an argument about the superiority of either platform.

Let me repeat that. This is not an argument about which is better (besides which, the answer is obvious :d).

I'm simply curious about the ratios of online rpg'ers with respect to which platform they prefer. This is a simple numbers thread, not an argument thread. In fact, i'm not presenting any argument whatsoever in this post, just asking which platform you, as an rpg'er, use most.

I have my theories, but i think it's probably best to keep them to myself for now

I don't mind Macs, but I feel like their users, in general, are more vocally anti-PC than PC users are vocally anti-Mac, and this attitude rubs me the wrong way.

My experience has always been the opposite. When I post on a forum that I prefer to use a Mac, it always seems to draw a lot of vitriol from some PC-users. The anti-Mac sentiment often is a lot more personal in nature than the anti-PC sentiment as well. While most anti-PC arguments tend to be based on ease of use or reliability issues, there is definitely a sentiment among various PC-users that all Mac users are either elitist or simply don't know anything about computers.

Even if it is the case that there is a higher percentage of Mac-users who are vocally anti-PC, the fact that there are a lot more PC-users than Mac-users out there means that there is probably a higher total number of vocally anti-Mac people.

So, two camps, some small number of each of which are vociferous and belligerent. And folks on each side see the ones on the other side as being nastier than themselves.

Here in Germany Macs are (still) pretty much irrelevant.

Macs since the early 90's. Nothing against PC's, just prefer the Mac user interface and apps.

On a side note, since 2005 or so you can install and run Windows on macs, making them in effect PC's as well. So the old PC vs. Mac paradigm may be more accurately reflected as OS X vs. Windows - although there are nuances there as well.

Interesting: at this time nearly 24% either use a Mac, or use both and prefer the Mac. That's the sort of market share that DDI should pay attention to when deciding what to support.*

*assuming that ration holds up.

The issue is that DDI is written in C#. Porting it over to C++ or java would be more effort for WotC then its worth*.

*Macs are a very small portion of the market.

All of Margaret Weis Productions' books are created on Macs. My novel was created on a Mac. I love Macs.

I only recently picked up a Windows emulator since I heard such good things about Character Builder. I'd prefer to be able to use Mac native, though.
