PCGen: Familiars for Wizards?

I have a 2nd level Wizard who just bought/bonded with his Toad familiar. Does PCGen handle this? I've flipped thru the various tabs over and over but not found anything yet. Ideas?

Assuming you are running a relatively current version of PCGen (I believe 4.3.1 is current), you would click on the Inventory tab. This then makes available three sub-tabs. The one you want is Resources. That is where you can create a familiar or other animal companion.

How silly of me not to mention: I am running 2.6.0, which is one of the last versions before the legal brouhaha about the splatbooks etc.

However, I just checked and "Frog" is somewhere in the Inventory. I can see it under "sort by name".

I don't know if you're using lots of splatbooks or FR content in your game,
but if it isn't the case, you should try the 4.3.1 because it's incredibly more fast, flexible, useful and accurate than the pre-D20 versions.

It's quite easy to add new content with the new domain/feat/class/template/race/... editors.
I still hope they reach an agreement for including the removed sources though.

If you want to stick with the 2.73 versions or earlier to keep use of the files, familiars are equipment that you need to purchase and equip in order to recieve thier benefits. The only way to keep your familiar stats with the earlier versions is to make animal character and advance it seperately.

Why not just take your old data sets, copy them to a dir with the new data information and run the LST Convertor and BAM! you got your old files with the new files...easy simple complete.

I'm just sort of ossified at 2.6.0; which is a sad thing for a techie like me to admit. (I dont need must Splatbook stuff, but my GF runs a Psi-Warrior, so I do need that.)

I'll take a look at this LST Converter; though its going to take some convincing to get me out of my self-imposed shell here. As in, "if it ain't broke, why fix it?" ;-)

Is the list converter 100% now? I've had problems using it with prior versions.

give or take a few things the LST convertor works fine.

If all you are using is the Psionics Handbook you'll be pleased to know that 4.3.1 does have the PsiHB as part of its core dataset.

As far as the LST converter goes, feats convert properly, spells convert properly, classes not so properly.

The LST convertor will work properly if you have the LST files from version 2.73 or higher. That particular version had already implemented many of the changes to the LST files. So classes from those files work properly for the most part.

I know from experience that versions 4.xx are a huge difference in performance from version 3.x and earlier. BTW always install PCGen on a new folder. Don't try to overwrite the old one. It's like crossing the streams, "bad things happen."
