DM's Familiar
PC's Familiar for the Palm

PC's Familiar is for spell-casting PCs to use while playing. It will run on any Palm-compatible device, OS 3.0 or later. It features:

* A complete Spell Reference Library of 500+ spells
* Quick spell lookup
* Ability to add unlimited number of characters
* Each character can have an unlimited number of classes
* For each class, PCF keeps a Spellbook
* You can use the spellbook to track prepared spells, shows you the DC, lookup spell info instantly, and generally, make your spell-casting life easier.

You can check it out at: www.paladinpgm.com/pcf

Checking it out right now -

A few observations:

* is there a try-before you buy version? Sorry if it sounds stingy, but I always check compatibility and usability of PalmOS software before purchasing it.

* A neat improvement which would add real value to this over and above display of text would be to let the user input the casters level, attribute bonus and spell specialisation bonus so that the actual duration, actual range and save DC can be calculated and displayed.

I think the latter is important if it is going to be a genuine replacement for a piece of paper - because at the moment all of the players who are casters use one of the spell spreadsheets and print out their current list of spells (including all appropriate durations etc) so that it is easily at hand.

Out of interest, what software development tools did you use to write this? Codewarrior/C or somethign else?

Cheers

There's no demo version at this time. There should be, but there's not.

All of that can be entered and the DC is calculated for you. I don't calculate range or duration. I'll put it on my to-do list though.

what software development tools did you use
It's written in NSBasic
