So, here's some tips for Trollhaunt Warren. Alas, tip #1 doesn't work for you. Also some threads on the topic: some general tips/resources, and adding player choices. There are some good comments in this post. Based on it, you might upgrade Moonstair to be a small fiefdom or small kingdom, as opposed to "A Town". I make a few comments about improving the adventure in the general tips thread. But one thing that comes to mind is, the Moon door really isn't that important in the adventure. It's just a setting feature. Instead, I think it'd be interesting if Skalmad claims the area, then something is disrupted - trade between the Feywild and the Prime, or perhaps there's a pilgrimage of people coming from one to the other planned, and Skalmad having the area would seriously muck that up. This is primarily a story incentive, perhaps one of the reasons the PCs could get involved. A thought occurs. Instead of the Prince coming back from fighting some unnamed evil whatsit, perhaps this is a great place to start dropping seeds for the Giants adventure. Truth be told I don't know the details there, but he could actually have been doing Stuff that was setting the stage for that, which got disrupted by his death. This adventure offers you the opportunity to show the threat that is being posed. Show the threat of the troll assault, of the power of Skalmad. Try not to tell the PCs this is going to be big, make them feel it's going to be big. If your players like RP and exploration, the Feywild side might prove really valuable. They might wind up trapped and have to converse with a Fey, who might offer information in exchange for information ro favors. You could have a roleplay scene where the PCs stumble upon a pixie caught in a spider's web, and if they save the pixie, it draws them a map of the area and gives various details of what lives where; it could even do that on the prime side of things.
