Spoilers Peacemaker Season 2 (Spoilers)

What is Flagg's actual deal in all of this? Was this whole thing just about him finding somewhere to stuff Peacemaker? Why is he so blase about the lives of the agents lost to find it? Why does he care if it is suitable for humans to live there? Does he actually care about getting rid of meta-humans? He seemed find with working with them before, And does he even know that Waller is just as responsible for Ricky's death as Peacemaker? Isn't he working with her too?

Gunn has said that Peacemaker the character will be back but there is not a s3 of the show planned. I’m figuring this leads in to the Supes/Lex teamup movie they are making next.

It shows that Flagg is just as psychopathic as Waller; the person he should really be blaming for the death of his son. The agents are just expendable assets in his pursuit of his personal goals. When he was stopped from just beating Chris to death in detention I guess his focus switched to some sort of punishment, that was much more long lasting. The idea of 'humanely' imprisoning supes would be far more palatable to his oversight, so it's something he could easily sell to them.

IIRC, Waller is currently persona non gratis in the government since she was outed by Adebayo. Also, Waller probably has a lot more protection via blackmail material on powerful people than poor Chris.

But beyond that, yeah, I kind of feel like Rick Flag Sr.’s character has been all over the place if you actually compare him from Creature Commandos to Superman to Peacemaker. There was just too much about that last episode that made zero sense to me. Like, I get that he’d make a deal with the devil regarding Luthor. But then becoming Buddy-Buddy with Luthor’s cronies? To the point of “Hey let’s celebrate and get drinks together?” Wanting to use the portal only as a prison for metahumans? - which is funny because Peacemaker isn’t even really a metahuman. I know Economos made the whole “when have the powerful people ever cared about common people” point. But even then, it’s an entire world filled with resources that are just being wasted. I know it’s comic book logic but even then it kind of strains my brain a bit. It really felt like all they were doing was setting up a future plot point for another movie which honestly, that’s the trap the MCU fell into. It worked until it didn’t work.

I've just been assuming that Lex has been manipulating Rick since the moment that moment in the prison. He's the smartest man on the planet and Rick is an obviously unwell parent grieving his son.

The "Waller" series was announced sometime back in January, if memory serves.
