When i use a pearl of power to re-cast my magic missle do i have to spend a standard action to activate the pearl then cast it the next round?

from the SRD
Pearl of Power
Once per day on command, a pearl of power enables the possessor to recall any one spell that he or she had prepared and then cast (this item is useless to spellcasters who do not prepare spells). The spell is then prepared again, just as if it hadn’t been cast. The spell must be of a particular level, depending on the pearl

I think it's clear that it costs one standard action to recall a spell, which puts the spell back into memory and nothing more. The key sentence is, "The spell is then prepared again, just as if it hadn’t been cast."

Which is why Pearls of Power are best used for Buff spells, Cure spells, and other spells that are not cast directly in combat.

After you have cast a spell, a standard action activates the pearl and re-prepares the spell for you.

Anytime after that, you can spend a standard action to cast the spell again (just as you would any other spell).

Keep in mind you don't have to cast the spell immediately after you recall it. You could cast a spell, recall it, and then cast it again hours later, if you wanted.
