Pearl of power...Tooth?

I'm trying to remember what book, or perhaps magazine this item was in. It functioned as a pearl of power that never went away. If I remember correctly you gave up 1d4 hit points forever, and in return had a "pearl of power tooth" placed in your mouth.

I cannot remember the actual name of the item, or what exactly the item did.

Thanks

Hmm, sounds like some kind of graft. I have no idea about the source, though.

The only magic item tooth set I know of outside scenario-specific one-off items are the teeth of Dahlver-Nar from Tome of Magic (putting one in costs you a hit point and gives you a power of some sort). None of those grant the effect of a pearl of power though. There was an item in Encyclopaedia Magica which was pretty much as you describe, but that was 2nd Edition!

There are LOTS of magic replacement-tooth-type items in adventures and whatnot, but without a name or more certainty about what it does, I'm afraid I'm stumped.

On the other hand, there's precedent for "tooth" item slots thanks to ToM, so why not just create one? At most it'd cost exactly the same as a pearl of power.

thanks for the information guys, i appreciate it. I have since posting, done just that. Create it myself. It saved my characters life. all items taken from me, all spells gone. tooth pearl of power to rescue. lol. Again many thanks for taking the time to help me. :)
