Perhaps it's time to stop the dracophilia

Why dragons? Because they are big, they fly, they breathe fire, and they have scales.

Oh and they are known to horde treasure.

That's it. Really. That's it. No other fictional creature captures the imagination as the dragon does. Cyclopes are boring when you get down to it. Sphinxes are down right dull, "What do you mean we have to talk to it? The last monster we talked to ate half the party!" Kobolds are ... oh wait they are dragon kin so they ROCK!

As for art work, I remember once reading "the book of Gnomes" which while not a AD&D book has forever tarnished my view of racial source books. So now I not only expect artwork of that horrid nature, I demand it.

(Actually there probably are monsters with a better potential than dragons, but they are generally copyright by gaming companies - mostly WOTC - and as a result can't get into the third party supplemental market.)

Why do people love dragons so much? Ok so there's some pretty cool nostalgia about the hero slaying the dragon and saving the damsel in distress, but do we really need to have every iota of dragon information printed in the form of endless tedious supplements?

Have you actually read the books? Draconomicaon is about Dragons. Races of Dragon is about humaniod races that are type dragon but very different. Dragon Magic is just about using magic and themes of dragon with existanting characters and settings. But there is a secret I'll let you in on: In your game you don't have to use dragons just because their are books on them. :D

I heart dragons. :)

Dragons are one of my favorite monsters, for several reasons. First, thaks to age categories, they are useful over a wide variety of levels. They are always tough adversaries, providing a good challenge for players (often with a large reward). They make great recurring villains, and thanks to their intelligence, flight, and magic, they can often live to fight another day.

I can't get enough of true dragons. I'm less thrilled about all the "tacked onto dragons" things like dragonspawn, dragonblooded, and so forth.

Stop the dracophilia, officer? I was told that it was legal in Wisconsin!
Personally, I like drakes more than dragons. I've never pictured dragons as super intelligent 1000 year old megasorcerers, myself.

I agree. 2006 was "Year of the dragon" - now it's time to move on.

Throughout various editions of the game, dragons have had more than their fair share of the limelight in terms of supplemets and adventures.

I realise they are an iconic part of the game, but c'mon, enough is enough...

Who?

Personally, I don't like dragons all that much, but there are things I want expunged from D&D before them.

1)Drow
2)The Forgotten Realms
3)The new Prestige Class format.
1. I oppose
2. I oppose
3. I oppose

Nothing left to do but fight. :]
