Perhaps it's time to stop the dracophilia

Why do people love dragons so much?
It's really simple; just look at their stats in the monster manual. Dragons have everything that every player wants to have -- magic, strength, wisdom, near-immortality, the list goes on. Dragons are power incarnate, is it any wonder that so many players are obsessed with them?

I cannot imagine any other creature more symbolic of the fantasy genre. So, no, I don't think it's been overdone. Though, I do admit some of it hasn't been done that well.

I think you mean McCaffrey, not what you wrote. :p :)

Fru,

I don't mind steamed or boiled, but fried with some oil is nice too. :)

Ranger Regman,

I thought it was a 80s song. ;)

Sphinxes are down right dull, "What do you mean we have to talk to it? The last monster we talked to ate half the party!"

That was a giant bobcat. Sphinxes have picked up too many additional species.

As for dragons, I am not a big fan, but I have to ask:

As for too many dragons, what is the difference between a dragon for every biome/habitat and a race of elves for every biome/habitat?

Why are dinosaurs so cool? Dragons are flying, firebreathing dinosaurs. That's pretty much it. They're big and dangerous, and they look cool. What more do you need in an iconic monster?

Heh.

Unlike popular opinion which seems to be that 'dragons r teh sukc' I like them. I like the color coded system, the variety of CR's they cover, their 3.x art, the Draconomicon, and the niche they fill. I feel that the 3.x MM has just the right amount of dragons aside from the shadow dragon and the arcane dragons, I really don't want anymore.

But, what's already there, I like it. :)

Don't forget that last year was the self-proclaimed Year of the Dragon by WotC.

I'd much wrather see the end of dungeophilia before dragophilia. I mean, how do all those fantasy worlds not collapse upon themselves? They are completely hollow with every Joe-Badguy and his brother digging endless chambers under the earth!
