Permanent Buff Spell Items

Pricing a magic item is not G.U.R.P.S. character creation.

Comparing the power level between a preexisting item is more important than the Spell level x Caster level formula. If the formula makes an item that seems to be too cheap for what it does, then it IS to cheap for what it does.

Thank you for the link, now I would just like to ask: Does my proposed item (scythe with Consumptive Field) seem like it would be on the high or low end of the power spectrum? I am operating under the assumption that you cannot stroll through a city/forest killing every small thing in sight to get large amounts of bonuses and that they reset each day since I cannot hold the scythe while I sleep.
Well, consider:

You're essentially planning on having the benefits of this spell up basically constantly. But you're also assuming a certain level of cheese-banning. So the simplest method would be to figure out what level of mechanical impact you actually expect the thing to have, and price it that way.

What about the reverse? Anyone think a Ring of Regeneration is overpriced?

Of course!

Frankthedm's approach to compare an item against others to find a realistic price works better than any formula ever could _and_ as of the Magic Item Compendium it's basically the new guideline to replace the DMG guidelines.

The MIC also updates a couple of prices for items from the DMG. I don't recall if the Ring of Regeneration is among them, but it would definitely make sense.
